Grant Thornton Zimbabwe, a leading accounting company in Harare, is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Assistant Accountant to join our dynamic team. As an Assistant Accountant at Grant Thornton Zimbabwe, you will play a crucial role in facilitating the timely production of financial reports by accurately capturing accounting transactions. Responsibilities:
Payment Processing: Prepare complete and accurately coded payment packages and GL entries.
Cash Management: Generate cash requests for the Harare Program Area, prepare cash receipts to record all income received.
Statutory Compliance: Ensure the preparation of statutory returns within stipulated timeframes.
Inventory Management: Update stores records with receipts and issues, and conduct quarterly inventory verifications.
Month-end Reporting: Prepare month-end reports, file, and reconcile all balance sheet accounts.
Petty Cash Management: Conduct surprise petty cash counts every month.
Reporting and Monitoring: Prepare advance and contract monitoring reports.
Intercompany Reconciliation: Prepare intercompany reconciliation for the country.
Balance Sheet Reconciliation: Reconcile balance sheet accounts regularly.
Payroll Administration: Assist in the administration of payroll changes.
Financial Management Reports: Collaborate with the Accountant to prepare monthly financial management reports.
Compliance and Safeguarding: Promote and abide by internal policies and procedures, including but not limited to Safeguarding Policy, Gender Equality Policy, Code of Conduct, and mandatory reporting responsibilities.
Requirements:
Education: Higher National Diploma in Accounting, Part C CIS, or equivalent qualification.
Qualifications: 5 “O” levels, including Mathematics and English Language.
Experience: At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in an NGO environment.

Analytical skills
Good communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Proficiency in computer skills and relevant accounting packages
Behaviours:
Clear and effective communication
Ability to take charge of accounting functions in the absence of the Accountant
